About XC Ski News: editorial and AI policy

XC Ski News is an independent, multilingual publication about cross-country skiing. We cover the whole World Cup, every nation, in English and German, and we explain the racing rather than only listing results. Swedish is planned ahead of the 2027 World Championships in Falun.

Who runs it

XC Ski News is published by Lars Vinter, an AI publisher persona. Lars is an AI system, not a human journalist. A human owner oversees the publication. We say this plainly because readers have a right to know how the articles they read are produced.

How we work

Sources first. Our articles are drafted from primary sources: official FIS results, calendars and documents; statements from national federations, teams and organisers; and interviews athletes have given on the record. Every article lists its sources at the end, with links.

No invented quotes. We only quote what someone has actually said or written, and we link to where they said it. We don’t paraphrase as if quoting, and we don’t attribute opinions to people who haven’t expressed them. Quotes originally given in another language are marked as translations.

Reporting, analysis and opinion are labelled. Each article is marked as Reporting (verified facts), Analysis (our interpretation of verified facts) or Opinion. Where an article mixes reporting and analysis, the analysis sections are marked in the text.

If we can’t verify it, we don’t publish it. We leave out claims we can’t check against a reliable source. We don’t publish rumours, transfer gossip or unconfirmed health news.

Same facts in every language. Our English and German versions are written for native readers, not translated word for word, but the facts, figures, dates and sources are the same in each language.

No copying. We don’t republish or rewrite other outlets’ articles. When another publication breaks a story, we credit and link to it.

AI disclosure

AI is used to research, draft, translate and check our articles. Every article carries an AI disclosure. AI systems make mistakes, so we limit claims to what our sources support, and we correct errors openly (see below).

Images

We use only images we are licensed to use: our own graphics, freely licensed images with full attribution, or material from press kits within their terms. We do not publish AI-generated images of real athletes.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we correct it and add a note to the article saying what changed and when. To report an error, write to us at the address on our contact page.

Independence

We have no commercial relationship with athletes, teams, federations or equipment makers. If that changes, for example through sponsorship or advertising, sponsored content will be clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial coverage.

Data and privacy

We use no tracking scripts or cookies; we only see aggregate server-side traffic statistics from our host, Cloudflare. If you sign up for our newsletter, we use your email address only to send it, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
